In the game against Chelsea FC, Josip Stanišić has to be replaced prematurely with a blessing. After the game there are updates-both from the Bayern sports director and the player himself.

It was the only really worried moment in the 3-1 win of FC Bayern at the start of the Champions League against Chelsea: the injury to left-back Josip Stanišić, who could no longer continue and had to leave the place after 51 minutes.

After the game, Bayern sports director Christoph Freund gave easy all-clear: “We hope that it is not that bad.” Stanišić “got a blow, he didn’t feel so stable.”

The 48th minute in the Allianz Arena: Stanišić remains in midfield after a collision with Chelsea’s Trevor Chalobah, has previously crashed into the floor, keeping his right knee. After a short break of treatment, the defensive player tries again. But: He has to cancel directly when you attempted to start, apparently feels pain again. It doesn’t go on for him. For him, Sacha Boey ultimately comes into the game.

A first examination showed: “The ligaments are stable,” continued friend after the game. Even more: “It has already looked out a little more positively, he (Stanišić, editor’s note) has already been able to laugh again. Hopefully it’s not that bad.”

Also from the player himself came a positive sign after the 3-1: “Everything is fine, I can play,” said Stanišić while walking to the journalists in the mixed zone. A failure of the 25-year-old would hurt Bayern-because both Raphaël Guerreiro (rib injury) and Alphonso Davies (cruciate ligament tear) will not be available for a long time on the left-back position.
