At the start of the Champions League season against Chelsea, FC Bayern showed with a strong performance that the club is rightly acted as a title candidate.
FC Bayern took the first hurdle in the new Champions League league and at the same time also took a small revenge for the lost “Finale Dahoam” from 2012. At that time, FCB lost 3: 4 to FCB Chelsea in the Munich stadium after penalty shooting – one of the bitter defeats in the club’s history.
During the new edition, the team of coach Vincent Kompany prevailed against the “Blues” 3-1 (2: 1). It was an almost perfect start of the “Mission Vita Winning” that Kompany had proclaimed before the game when he said: “We want to win the Champions League. There is no other goal.”
A Bayern player in the Champions League has never been older than new
“It is good that we used this momentum and our first game could design. Chelsea is not a homework, it is already a crowning glory as we played”said Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who now became the oldest player of FC Bayern in the Champions League at the age of 39 and 174 days and replaced Lothar Matthäus (38 years, 353 days). Neuer was already in the goal in 2012 in the lost final against Chelsea.

Now Neuer achieved his 100th victory in the European premier class against this opponent. According to Cristiano Ronaldo (115 victories), his long-time Bayern player Thomas Müller (110) and Iker Casillas (101), the new one who reaches this brand is the new one.
Chelsea initially at speed – that was a problem for Bayern
This success was tough. The English started extremely confidently and powerfully and had the great chance to take the lead after just six minutes, but defender Konrad Laimer was just able to block the shot from Enzo Fernandez from short gate removal.
Chelsea FC kept up the pace, the Munich people visibly had problems adjusting themselves. They had not yet seen an opponent at such a high level in this season, which was noticeable to the company team in the clearly initial phase.
Bavaria with double strike
But the Munich team once again showed their enormous quality and resilience: Michael Olise suddenly picked up pace on the right and fitted the ball in front of the gate of the guests. Defender Trevoh Chalobah no longer got his knee out of the track and the ball turned to 1-0 over the goal line of the Londoner (21st minute).
The lead goal caused a lot of momentum among the hosts, who now did everything they could to increase their leadership as soon as possible. And just six minutes later it was already 2-0: Harry Kane was torn down after a clever rotation in the Chelsea penalty of Moises Caicedo, the Bavaria attacker himself started to go to the penalty and increased IELLT.

Palmer with a dry end
But the team of coach Enzo Maresca was not impressed by it, remained persistent and immediately used the next inattentiveness of the Munich. After a ball loss of the FCB, Chelsea switched over at lightning speed and Chelsea-Star Cole Palmer circulated the ball from eleven meters to dry bone in the top corner of the goal to 2: 1 (29th).
A rapid game had developed, in which Laimer and Olise subsequently failed with their shots. Bayern goalkeeper Neuer was no longer given a task in the first half.
Kane and Olise take great opportunities
At the beginning of the second half, both teams initially fought a wear in midfield and lurked on a mistake by the opponent. And the guests did it. Unusual that Kane from eight meters – after a great preparatory work by Laimer – failed to goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (56th).
And three minutes later, Olise also missed – completely free -standing from ten meters and centrally in front of the goal. The game could have been ahead earlier in favor of FCB, which was now the clearly better team.
Victory administered
But Kane would not be Kane if he had also given the next chance to score. The 32-year-old benefited from a high ball win from Serge Gnabry and circulated the ball flat and from 16 meters from half-left into the right lower corner for 3: 1 (63.).
As a result, the Munich managed the leadership to the end, also because the English did not appear as if they thought they could turn the game again. “We set a sign today and that’s exactly how we want to continue”said Bayern defender Jonathan Tah of the ARD.
