For Liverpool everything went according to plan early. Atlético found the game late – but it wasn’t enough. Paris Saint-Germain meanwhile won confidently.

The prelude to the Champions League succeeded late for FC Liverpool. The team around national player Florian Wirtz defeated Atlético Madrid late 3-2 (2-1). The “Reds” were the more dangerous team over long distances, but the efficiency of the Spaniards and Liverpools opportunities for opportunities made the game exciting again.

Liverpool initially took the lead early through Andrew Robertson (4th minute) and Mohamed Salah (6th). As a result, Atlético turned up – and thanks to double packer Marcos Llorente (45. +3, 81.). LFC captain Virgil van Dijk then headed for the 3-2 victory of the hosts. Atlético coach Diego Simeone still saw the red card in a heated final phase.

Defending champion Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, started with a sovereign victory against Atalanta Bergamo. PSG had no great effort against the Italians at 4-0 (2-0). Marquinhos (3rd), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (39th), Nuno Mendes (51st) and Gonçalo Ramos (90.+1) scored the goals. Paris could have won even higher, but Bradley Barcola (44th) gave a penalty pitifully.

Last year finalist Inter Milan also earned 2-0 (1-0) at Ajax Amsterdam. A double pack of ex-Gladbach Marcus Thuram (42nd/47th) brought the victory of the Italians.

For the Dutch, we will go to Marseille at the end of September. In the meantime, Inter Milan meets Slavia Prague in the parallel game.
