Rockstars in truth do not mourn Charlie Kirk. The wave of alleged honors comes from counterfeits.
AI memes about alleged rocker tributes
After the death of the activist Charlie Kirk, pictures and posts are circulating in social networks that connect him to rock legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger or Robert Plant. The fake memes show Springsteen on a provisional Kirk memorial or Dylan, who sings “Blowin ‘in the Wind” to Kirk’s honor. Bizarre fantasies such as a supergroup with Dylan, Tom Jones, Dolly Parton and Reba Mcentire are also spread.
Some posts even sealed Springsteen provocative quotes – for example, that people would only be kindly considered if they were also friendly during his lifetime. In truth, this sentence came from wrestler Ava Raine, daughter of Dwayne Johnson.
Nostalgia as a breeding ground for fakes
The trend is part of a flood of AI rock memes of the past few months. According to Fakes Jagger and Steven Tyler Phil Collins, all rock stars over 70 helped at Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral. “These posts play with nostalgia, and many want to believe it,” said social media manager Justin Grome the Rolling Stone
Real reactions from the music world have so far failed to materialize. Only Coldplay singer Chris Martin mentioned Kirk at a London concert in a general peace appeal. He asked the audience to send love into the world – also to Kirk’s family.
Fact position and reactions
None of the musicians mentioned in the memes actually commented on the assassination attempt. Managements try to have the fakes extinguished, but new variants always appear. While many users recognize the absurdity, others can be fooled – up to comments like “I love Dylan again. He is the man.”
Or, as another user aptly wrote: “In the past, fan fiction was in forums and diaries. I miss these times.”
