Manchester United is in 14th place in the Premier League. After the derby defeat on Sunday, Klublegende Wayne Rooney becomes clear.
After the clear derby defeat against Manchester City (0: 3) on Sunday, the unrest grows at Manchester United. Wayne Rooney, long -time attacker and record goal scorer of the club, is concerned about the weak start of the season – and targets team manager Ruben Amorim.
In his BBC talk show, Rooney said that he wanted to support coaches and teams as best as possible. Then, however, he added: “But if he is honest with himself, he will see: everything has gotten worse.”
With just four points from four games, United started a Premier League season as weakly as in 1992. Amorim’s balance sheet since taking office in November is sobering: 31 points from 31 league games. According to Rooney, this corresponds to the points of a relegation candidate in many seasons.
Despite the poor results, Amorim does not think of changing the course. After the derby, he explained that he would only change his philosophy if he thought it is right. Otherwise you have to replace the trainer. He continues to believe in his way.
The tabloid “Daily Mirror” promptly interpreted this statement as a “permission to be fired”. In his own words, Rooney is also difficult to speak of progress or visible developments that could soon lead to results.
In particular, the focus is on Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system, with which he was successful at Sporting Lisbon, which, however, regularly encounters criticism in Manchester.
