After the opening of FC Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen won his second game of the season. The preliminary decision against Union Berlin brought about a national player.
Bayer Leverkusen’s women scored their first points in the new Bundesliga season-with plenty of support from the opponent. Against Union Berlin, the “Werkelf” was a strong start to beat the climber 3-2. The Roberto Pätzold team had lost the opening game at Bayern a week ago with 0-2 in front of the record set of 57,000 fans in the Munich Alliance Arena.
In front of their own audience in the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, the Leverkusen women used a sleepy initial phase of the guests ice cold. Vanessa Fudalla scored in the 3. minute-Union goalkeeper Cara Bösl let the striker’s rather harmless shot slide through her hands. Just three minutes later, Valentina Mädl added. This was preceded by a Samantha Steuerwald playback error at his own penalty area.
Union fought back before the break. Dina Orschmann brought the new league newcomer back in the 27th minute.
In the second half, Leverkusen initially restored the old distance. The German international Carlotta Wamser, such as Fudalla and Mädl, a new summer access in the club increased to 3: 1 (61.). Nevertheless, the victory for Bayer wobbled again: Tomke Schneider made the connection for Union in the 87th minute. In added time, the Berlin women even had the chance to equalize, but an Anna Weiß’s shot was clarified on the line.
Leverkusen can therefore celebrate over the first win of the season. The next threesome will follow at the guest performance in Nuremberg next weekend. Union Berlin, on the other hand, continues to wait for the first Bundesliga point in club history. The next chance will be available next Saturday in the home game against the SGS Essen.
