The KNMI issued code yellow in Drenthe this afternoon because of the chance of heavy gusts of wind up to around 80 kilometers per hour. The wind comes from the southwest and can cause nuisance in traffic and in outdoor activities.
For Drenthe the alarm applies until 7 p.m. Tonight the heavy gusts of wind are limited to the coastal areas. The wind will gradually decrease tomorrow morning.
The KNMI can warn of heavy gusts of wind on the basis of meteorological guidelines and impact. With all warnings, the expected impact is leading. The extent to which the weather is a risk determines whether the KNMI code publishes yellow, orange or red.
