Two weeks before his death, Cox visited Peter Blanker’s sixty -year wedding anniversary. The 88-year-old poet and singer, known for hits as It’s hard to stay modest, Is the uncle of actor Jan Kooijman who was also present at the festivities.

Kooijman and Cox also knew each other: “When I greeted Gerard, he was just as cordial and sweet when I got to know him, years ago at the jubilee of our dear communal girlfriend Joke Bruijs,” said the 43-year-old actor who closes his message with: “You’re going to be a good boss wherever you are.”
