The stone came against the window with a hard bang, but the glass did not break. Who threw the stone is unclear. Nobody was injured, but the shock was great.

Alderman Chris Boer of the Aov elderly party immediately took his things after the bang, because he was just behind the window that the stone came across. He says he is very shocked. According to the alderman, security immediately went outside, but nobody found it last night.

The incident happened during a conversation in the council chamber about the Stadspas that went pleasantly. Fifteen minutes earlier, the debate about the financing of the care of Ukrainians was closed. Several residents had come to that.

Mayor reports

Mayor Ellen van Selm says he does not know whether the incident has to do with the committee meeting. “You tend to think so, but we don’t know, it can also be vandalism.”

According to Van Selm, the police must now investigate why the stone came to the window. “Today we report because it is a serious matter.”

Arja Brink from the PVV Purmerend does not exclude the fact that it has to do with the debate, but cannot prove it. It was busy for a committee meeting. The debate was temporarily suspended and then the public gallery was a piece of army. Yet she cannot imagine that one of those present has tried to throw a stone through the window.
