His time in England has ended since summer. Now Christian Eriksen is moving to Germany.

Denmark’s captain Christian Eriksen will play in the Bundesliga in the future. The clubless professional, whose contract at Manchester United ended in summer, changes to VfL Wolfsburg and signs a contract until 2027. The club announced this on Wednesday evening. Previously, the “kicker” and the Danish “tipbladet” unanimously reported.

Since Eriksen’s farewell to the “Red Devils”, the 33-year-old had been associated with several top clubs-including Bayer Leverkusen. In a message, he said: “For me, VfL Wolfsburg is the first stop in the Bundesliga – I’m really looking forward to this new adventure.” Most recently, according to media reports in Sweden, he had kept fit at Malmö FF.

According to the Danish report, Wolfsburg’s managing director Sport had his fingers in the game. Peter Christiansen has been with VfL since July 2024. In addition to Christiansen, Eriksen meets with Jesper Lindstrøm, Andreas Skov Olsen, Jonas Wind, Joakim Maehle and Adam Daghim.

Eriksen moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. He spent seven years at the Premier League club before moving to Inter Milan for a season. Then it went back to England in 2022: first to FC Brentford, then to Manchester United. His contract ended in the summer after three years.

Eriksen has already had a turbulent time in the national team of Denmark: at the European Championship 2021, the midfield actor collapsed in the game against Finland without external influence due to cardiac arrest. He was cared for on the field at the time, and a defibrillator was implanted days later.

With 144 international matches (46 goals), Eriksen is a record national player in his country and already took part in three world and three European championships. “We are very happy that this possibility opened up for us at short notice. With Christian Eriksen we will get a player who saw and experienced everything at the highest level,” said VfL sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz.
