Again the camping guests went to court through Haarlem on Wednesday afternoon before preserving the campsite as it is now, with banners and battle cries through the megaphone. Many of them live from spring to autumn on ‘their’ campsite to flee Amsterdam in the summer months.

Nature permit with nitrogen calculation

In March, a judge ruled that the new owner Kennemerpark had the right to have the campsite evacuated to develop a bungalow park there, even though there is no nature permit for the redesign.

That permit has been required for new building plans since December 2024. In addition, it must show whether the nitrogen emissions do not go beyond the standard when renovating and using the new holiday park. Since Camping Sandevoerde is right next to a Natura 2000 area, that is of great importance for whether or not to obtain a permit.

‘Caravans too old to drag’

The camping guests hope to be able to demonstrate with new nitrogen calculations in an appeal that the construction of bungalows is far over it. But then they don’t want to have to remove their caravans first, they announced to the judge today.

“The caravans are sometimes too old to drag, it takes too much to park them and some of us are too old to first drag the caravan away and then perhaps put back again,” one of the camping guests in the courtroom said.
