VfL Wolfsburg has made a spectacular commitment: Danish international Christian Eriksen changes to the Bundesliga club. The club announced this on Wednesday evening.

The 33-year-old central midfielder was clubless in the summer after his end of the contract and signed a contract until June 30, 2027 in the “Wölfen”. In the green-whites, he will wear the jersey with number 24.

“We are very happy that this option has opened up for us at short notice. With Christian Eriksen we get a player who has seen and experienced everything at the highest level. His enormous experience, his playful class and his personality will give our young players valuable impulses,” said VfL sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz.

“For me, VfL Wolfsburg is the first stop in the Bundesliga – I’m really looking forward to this new adventure.”

“I am convinced that we can make a difference together in Wolfsburg. The conversations with the responsible goods were very good,” said Eriksen. “I immediately felt that Paul Simonis has a clear idea for the team and also for me. The fact that numerous faces known to me from the Danish national team are particularly attractive for me,” said Eriksen.

In the past few weeks he had kept himself fit with the Swedish first division club Malmö FF. For the five -time Danish footballer of the year, the Bundesliga is the fourth international top league in its career. Eriksen already played for Ajax Amsterdam, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, FC Brentford and Manchester United.

For Manchester United, the Dane, who had collapsed at the 2021 European Championship in the first group game of the Danish national team against Finland without external influence, played 35 competitive games last season. He was not in the squad at the World Cup qualification games Denmark against Scotland (0: 0) and Greece (3: 0).
