Anyone who regularly drives the car through Eindhoven will perhaps have noticed it: one of the most profitable speed cameras in the province – who has disappeared on John F. Kennedylaan in the city. In the first quarter of this year, the post was number 10 in the list of the most productive flash units, according to research by the Central Judicial Collection Agency.

The outdated post was removed on 26 August because the contract with the supplier ended, says the Public Prosecution Service (OM). Normally such a speed camera is then replaced by a new one with, for example, better quality cameras.

In this case it was decided not to replace the flash cupboard. The fact that it yields many fines, according to the OM shows that people are still driving too fast and the pole does not achieve its goal. The OM is now with the municipality in consultation about how they can make traffic on John F. Kennedylaan safer.

In the meantime, the police can still keep speed controls to check if people are not driving too fast. There are also a number of speed cameras along other pieces of the road. This is the part where 50 kilometers per hour can be driven.
