In the night from Sunday to Monday, a heavy fire broke out in a waste processing company on the border of Spiere-Helkijn and Dottenijs, near Mouscron. The fire caused a fierce glow and large smoke development.
Three firefighters were injured when putting out. “Two rose a heat stroke and one had a foot injury,” says Mayor Mathias Goos van Spiere-Helkijn. “Fortunately they were allowed to leave the hospital in the meantime.”
Because the company is close to the language border, fire brigade teams from Wallonia and even France also came to help
