He stood up to Tottenham Hotspur for over two decades, now Daniel Levy has announced his farewell. He was controversial for the club’s followers.
After almost 25 years, Daniel Levy surprisingly announced his resignation as the managing director of the English football top club Tottenham Hotspur. The Europa League winner in the joint announcement on Thursday did not provide any information on the reasons for the withdrawal of the 63-year-old. Levy, the longest reigning chair of the Premier League, took over the post in 2001. Levy, who is also the shareholder of the club, has long been controversial among the fans and has repeatedly criticized because of his transfer policy.
“I am incredibly proud of the work that I did together with the management team and all our employees. We have made this club a global heavyweight that plays at the highest level,” said Levy, nevertheless: “It was not always a simple way, but I have made significant progress. I will continue to support this club with passion.”
Tottenham had won the Europa League last season and thus the first international title in 41 years. In the league, the 2019 Champions League finalist laid as Table-17. But a disappointing season, there was fan protests against Levy. In Levy’s term, the construction of a new state -of -the -art arena for around $ 1.6 billion in northern London.
A number of high -ranking positions have been filled in the past few months, the Spurs said. In addition to the new chief coach Thomas Frank, successor to Verzecoglou, Vinai Venkatesham as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Peter Charrington were hired as a non-managing chairman.
