Houses were also in demand in Borger-Odoorn in Drenthe. There the prices rose more than 20.2 percent, followed by Winterswijk with a price growth of 18.8 percent and the Waddinxveen in South Holland, according to the CBS quarterly report on the Dutch housing market on Thursday. The average price increase in the Netherlands was 9.7 percent.

In addition to Hattem, the municipalities of Reusel de Mierden (Noord-Brabant) and Oudewater (Utrecht) had the smallest price increase compared to last year, with price increases of 0.7 percent and 0.8 percent respectively.

In the four major cities there was the smallest price increase in Amsterdam, where housing for only 4.3 percent left away than a year ago. In Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague, prices rose more than twice as much.

Apartments

At the last presentation of figures by broker organization NVM, it was established that house prices in various large cities are under pressure because many landlords dispose of their buildings there as soon as the tenant leaves, due to the new rental laws and higher tax burden. These are often cheaper apartments, which has an influence on the development of the average house price in a municipality.

Due to the upward trend of last quarters, prices have risen to ‘new records’ in most municipalities, Statistics Netherlands notes.
