Transferter at Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League opponent Athletic Bilbao: The Basques already agreed with Al-Nassr about a change from the Spanish European Champion Aymeric Laporte, but in the transfer Matching System (TMS) of the FIFA FIFA FIFA FIFA, the Saudi Arabic Klub entered the relevant data too late.

The transfer window in Spain was already closed and the negotiated three -year contract and the transfer of 8.5 million euros were therefore obsolete. Negotiations with Al-Nassr were complicated and had dragged on for a long time, which would have finally led to the late submission of the documents, it was said in Spanish media.

Bilbao hopes for grace of FIFA

Bilbao still has the hope that FIFA or the Spanish Association RFEF could. Bilbao had firmly planned Laporte as the new defensive chief. The 31-year-old had already played for Bilbao from 2012 to 2018, then switched to Manchester City and in 2023 to Al-Nassr.

At Bilbao, only players from Basque provinces are used or those who were trained in the youth of a club from these regions. The transfer market is therefore much more limited than for other teams. In the premier class, Bilbao will be a guest in Dortmund on October 5.

Does Bremen have to worry?

Werder Bremen should pursue the events particularly carefully. Werder’s new midfielder Cameron Puertas is to be loaned by the Saudi club Al-Qadisiya. Although Puertas is already registered as a Werder player on the DFB portal “Fussball.de”, the association has not yet officially announced the transfer by Tuesday evening.
