The 22-year-old man who is suspected of the murder of 17-year-old Lisa in Duivendrecht and the rape of another woman on the Amsterdam Weesperzijde remains in pre-trial detention for at least ninety days. The Amsterdam District Court reports this on Monday on X. A public pro forma session will take place in three months.
Lisa was murdered in Duivendrecht in the night of 19 to 20 August, while cycling home after an evening out in Amsterdam. Her death caused a lot of unrest nationwide. Afterwards the awareness campaign ‘The Night is our’ was also launched.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) reported Also Monday that the identity of the suspect has not yet been determined by 100 percent certainty. “He himself stated who he is and that statement seems consistent with the information he has given in the asylum procedure,” said the OM. Because the man cannot consult identity papers, the OM has asked Nigeria, among others, for additional information. The prosecutor is still waiting for a response.
The fingerprints of the man do not occur in Dutch and European databases. However, after a press conference on 22 August, the police received approximately three hundred reports that are currently being processed.
The man is also suspected of attempting sexual violence on August 10, but the OM still waits in that case with the lead, because any other victims can still report.
