Sam Muller and Anja Mutsaers have been appointed as members, respectively PLV. Member of the Board of Directors at the EU ground rights agency in Vienna. Over the next five years, they will be committed to promoting and protecting human rights in the EU in that role.
The EU fundamental rights agency (fundamental rights agency) was established in 2007 and provides EU institutions and EU member states with social assistance and expertise in the field of human rights. The Board of Directors, for which all Member States nominate a member and deputy member, meets twice a year. The board of directors, among other things, determines the long -term strategy, discusses activity reports and approves the budget.
New members
After the expiry of the previous Dutch members of the Board of Directors, the Netherlands has nominated a new member and deputy member. Although nominated by the Netherlands, the members are completely independent in the fulfillment of their function.
Mr. S. Muller becomes a member of the Board of Directors. He works as a consultant in the field of the rule of law and governance and advises internationally operating organizations in this area. He is the founder of The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law and has extensive experience in administrative and supervisory roles at various (international) organizations.
Mrs. Alm Mutsaers becomes a deputy member of the Board of Directors. She is a former partner, lawyer and management board member of the Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and has gained years of administrative and supervisory experience in addition to her law practice. She is currently a commissioner at various international organizations and teacher at the VU University Amsterdam and Erasmus University Rotterdam.
The appointment period of the aforementioned members is entering today, September 1, 2025.
