In a course record from 2:18:20, Hassan Solo rushed to victory. It was her fourth final victory over the more than 42 -kilometer race and her first since she captured Olympic gold in the heart of Paris more than a year ago.

Hassan was happy that the ‘drama’ was not yet available and enjoyed the public and the encouragements. “I didn’t want a drama, but just finish normally. You better run smart. I got so much energy from the fans. Everyone shouted: Sifan, Sifan. Really great. I am very happy with this course record.”
The Sydney marathon had around 35,000 participants. The competition was one of the major marathons for the first time.
