Status: 29.08.2025 10:50 p.m.
FC St. Pauli has won the first Hamburg Bundesliga derby since 2011. The team of coach Alexander Blessin earned a total of 2-0 (1-0) on Friday evening at HSV.
In the end, the St. Paulians celebrated their victory in the 112nd city duel with their fans in the guest curve of the Volksparkstadion – including memory photos. Adam Dwigala (19th) and Andreas Hountondji (60th) ensured the overall deserved away win.
At least the HSV had cheered for a short time. The supposed 1: 1 by center forward Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (48th) was not given according to video evidence due to an offside position. “It’s a shame that we lost. We didn’t do it bad, maybe we were missing the punch in the end,” said Königsdörffer. Bitter for the hosts: In the 77th minute, defender Giorgi Gocholeishvili also saw the yellow-red card.
While the HSV continues to be waiting for the first Bundesliga goal since the ascent, the mood among the St. Paulians could hardly be better. After the 3: 3 at the start against Dortmund, you have already booked four points.
No riots around the game
It remained calm around the duel classified as a “high risk game”. After the fan march of the HSV fans and the guests’ bicycle and scooter convoy, the police said: “There were no events in the marches.” However, the use of pyrotechnics during the game in the stadium should still have an aftermath for both sides.
Heated initial phase – St. Pauli cheers
There had been a fire on the square from the start. Hardly even there were real moves, and the action was interrupted again and again because of a foul. In the seventh minute there was the first yellow card of the game for St. Pauli’s Dwigala, but also some players had “applied” to warning.
The guests also recorded the first real chance. Danel Sinani pulled a free kick from the side directly onto the goal. But HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes fisted the ball out of the danger zone (7th). Polzin had announced before the game that his team would act significantly more offensive than the 0-0 in Gladbach in the previous week. After a courageous start, not much came from the home side; And St. Paulis Nikola Vasilj had nothing to do in the first 45 minutes.
Consequently, the gate fell on the other side. The HSV was surprised by a rehearsed short corner variant of the Kiezkicker. Dwigala came to a conclusion at the five. Heuer Fernandes was still on, but could not parry the massive shot. 1-0 for St. Pauli (19th). And the HSV was very lucky that it stayed with one goal before the break.
HSV in happiness: referee feet decision and failure
Already six minutes later, Christian Dingert was probably a clear wrong decision by Christian Dingert. The referee whistled a free kick for the home side after Jordan Torunarigha had gone to the ground. However, the defender had only fallen in the running duel with Hountondji because he could not stop his much faster opponent. Hountondji prevailed fairly, would have been through and could have laid the free Mathias Pereira location in front of the goal. Bitter for the guests.
St. Pauli did not let himself get out of the track, and Pereira Lage really had the second goal on his foot in the 41st minute. After a lightning -clean counter over Hountondji and Sinani, the French -born shot over the goal (41.).
Side: Königsdörffer’s 1: 1 does not count
But the HSV came out of the cabin as if only three minutes after the restart scooter boomed from the stadium boxes. Königsdörffer ran away from a long ball and had also overcome Vasilj. Only: the video assistant switched on, Königsdörffer had been in the offside – the supposed 1: 1 did not count. St. Pauli now had problems. Miro Muheim had two good free kick opportunities – once parried Vasilj (53.), the second shot went over (55th).
Hotondji with surgical precision to 2-0
Polzin then changed two fresh offensive forces with captain Yussuf Poulsen and Jean-Luc Dompé. The equalization seemed to be only a matter of time. But the St. Paulians were once again a mood killer. Spielmacher Joel Chima Fujita sent Hountondji, this time it was not offside. The striker passed the Heuer Fernandes and scored with surgical precision from a very pointed angle to 2: 0 (60th).
The HSV struggled to come into play again. Königsdörffer had the greatest chance, but his header from five meters came to a central one (69th). But Gocholeishvili also took the last hope for the hosts with his foul, for which he saw yellow-red.
In the end, St. Pauli’s victory could have been even higher. Heuer Fernandes parried against Louis Oppie (78th) and Fujita was too hesitant when replacing. Two minutes later, the Japanese missed a cross, James Sands then failed as well as this year, just as a little later the substitute new signing Martijn Kaars (87th). The 2-0 reflected the balance of power at this city championship.
