Ex-BTSV striker makes “the hardest decision of his life”

For Anthony Ujah, the end: The former striker of Eintracht Braunschweig announces the end of his career – with emotional words.
Anthony Ujah ran 54 times between 2022 and 2024 for Eintracht Braunschweig. With his 14 goals and seven templates, but also with his special kind, the striker played in the hearts of the fans. Now the attacker ended his active professional career after persistent injury problems – and found emotional words on the occasion.
“Today I make the hardest decision of my life,” wrote the 34 -year -old Nigerian on social networks. “Above all, I thank God that he gave me the talent, accompanied me at every step of my football career and gave me the strength to cope with the good and bad days.”
Ujah had left his mark on his commitment to Braunschweig in the Bundesliga. In 2011 he moved to FSV Mainz 05 and then played in Germany for 1. FC Köln, Werder Bremen, Union Berlin and Eintracht Braunschweig. There are a total of 136 Bundesliga, 114 second division and seven caps in the striker’s career balance.
In 2024 he moved from Braunschweig to Botew Plowdiw to the first Bulgarian league again, but was already a serious knee injury there on the second match day in the city derby against Lokomotiw Plowdiw. As early as 2020, he had had to pause for more than a year after a knee operation.
“Football was more than a game for me,” wrote Ujah to say goodbye. “It was my passion, my identity and my home.”
