EU mission building in Kiev damaged by bombing

A building of the European Union mission in Kiev has been damaged in Russian air strikes, according to chairman of the European Council António Costa. He says he abolishes the youngest attacks on Kiev.

The EU cannot be intimidated and Russian aggression strengthens the support of Ukraine, according to Costa on X. The chairman shared a photo of the inside of the building. Among other things, it can be seen detached ceiling plates and broken windows.
The EU ambassador in Kiev, Katarina Mathernova, has also shared photos on X. According to it, the building has sustained “heavy damage”. “This is Moscow’s true answer to peace attempts,” she explains.
The employees have remained unharmed. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the air strikes were the second largest at Kiev in the war since 2022. Ukraine reports ten dead and dozens of injured.
According to European Commissioner Marta Kos (expansion), the attack is “a clear sign that Russia opts for terror” and does not want peace. “Our full solidarity goes out to EU staff, their families and all Ukrainians who undergo this aggression,” says the commissioner.
Chairman of the European Parliament Roberta Mesola says that her thoughts go out to the EU mission staff, who are “the voice of the EU in Ukraine”.
EU-BuitenlandChef Kaja Kallas also mentions the attacks in the Ukrainian capital on X, but not that the EU building was hit. According to her, the air strikes are a clear choice of Russia “to escalate and mock peace efforts. Russia has to stop killing and negotiating.”

Chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen writes on X about “ruthless Russian bombing of civil infrastructure”. According to defense minister Ruben Brekelmans, the attacks show the “brutal reality” of the war. “Another flats destroyed, people under debris, innocent people killed. Putin opts for terror, not for peace. We have to increase the pressure on Russia for a robust peace.”
