Job news for Eintracht Braunschweig: Frederik Jäkel recently came as a reinforcement for defense. Now it is missing for months.
Eintracht Braunschweig has to do large parts of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga without central defender Frederik Jäkel. The 24-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament injury and must be operated on. This was announced by BTSV on Wednesday afternoon. Jäkel will not be available for months. The exact duration depends on the healing process.
The defensive player was only borrowed from RB Leipzig this summer to the Oker. At Eintracht, he had only stood on the pitch for five minutes in the league game against Greuther Fürth (3: 2). Jäkel – at the time as a loan from SV Elversberg – had largely missed the past season and was only used once due to knee problems.
Sports Managing Director Benjamin Kessel is affected by Jäkel’s continued injury: “It is extremely bitter news for us and especially for Frederik himself,” said the ex-professional. “So far he has left a really good impression with us and was on the best way to develop a place in the starting eleven with full fitness.”
Eintracht had held up a jersey of their injured teammate before the DFB Cup game against VfB Stuttgart (11:12 AD) on Tuesday evening at the team photo. “Despite the only short time within the team, the jersey gesture of the team impressively showed the team last night,” says Kessel. Jäkel will now be supported “with all strength” on the way to the comeback and wish him the fastest possible and complicated recovery.
