With a clear three -set victory, Carlos Alcaraz started the US Open – with a new look. The Spaniard won 6: 4, 7: 5, 6: 4 in New York on Monday evening in New York against the serve-strong Reilly Opelka from the USA and is thus in the second round of the Grand Slam tournament.
Alcaraz attracted attention not only with his performance, but also with a new hairstyle. The world ranking second had briefly had the hair sheared-but involuntarily. As the 22-year-old reported after the match, a mistake by his brother was responsible. He really wanted to have his hair cut before the start of the tournament. “Suddenly my brother made a mistake with the machine. He just cut it off. Then the only way was to just roas them,” said Alcaraz.
Alcaraz took it calmly. It is not that bad, his hair has grown again in a few days. “Some like it, some don’t like it. To be honest, I laugh at how people react. It is what it is.” Alcaraz still joked with the new haircut.
After 2:05 hours, the opening win for the French Open winner was perfect. In the second round, Alcaraz now meets the Italian Mattia Bellucci, who goes to the match as an outsider.
