Snackerie De Pieper from Zuidlaren is going to run the kiosk at the OV junction Gieten. The province of Drenthe was looking for a new manager since the beginning of this year and found it after a selection procedure.
Deputy Henk Jumelet: “It is nice for the traveler and the surrounding area that the kiosk opens its doors again. The kiosk contributes to the social safety of the junction and makes the OV hub more attractive for travelers.”
Wouter Heerema from Snackerie De Pieper: “I am very enthusiastic about opening the kiosk in Gieten. We are going to provide travelers with various sandwiches, snacks, coffee and other products that you can expect at a kiosk. After a short renovation and as soon as we have enough staff, we will open. I expect that this will be in October.”
In addition to the return of the Kiosk, the province and municipality of Aa and Hunze are working together on improving the public transport hub. A traveler investigation was held at the beginning of February. Based on the results, various improvements are made, such as extra seats, more green, extra cameras and colorful accents on the concrete.
