No cupboard full of books, but with toys, straps and sweets for your dog. A sub -box for four -legged friends has recently recently been found in the Brandevoort district. The idea comes from local resident Laura van de Westerlo, who hopes to make a positive contribution in the neighborhood. “Sometimes there are also collars and straps in it. Then I think those are owners who no longer have a dog.”
The idea behind the Dog Supples sub -box is almost the same as the popular variant where you can take a book with you or leave it behind. “I especially like it when the box is used. It’s all about sharing, leaving something for the rest,” Laura tells This is Helmond.
“It fits in our neighborhood.”
With the Dog Library, Laura hopes to make a positive contribution to the neighborhood. “It is something nice for the dogs and owners in the area. In addition, it is also a piece of social, you share it with each other,” says Laura. “Sometimes there are also collars and straps in it, then I think it’s owners who no longer have a dog. You give the things a second life.”
The dog part box is not entirely new. “I was scrolling on Pinterest a while ago and I saw it passing by,” says Laura. “I love dogs and I really enjoy being creative.”
“The only problem: I am not very handy with building. Fortunately my neighbor is.” Together they built the cupboard in one evening. “Everyone in the neighborhood and on Facebook reacts very positively to the box. It fits in with our neighborhood.”
“That’s a shame because you want to have faith.”
According to Laura, the cupboard has already made several dogs and their owners happy. Yet the initiative also has setbacks. “I recently came home in the evening and saw that the cupboard was completely emptied,” says Laura.
“That’s a shame because you want to have faith. But I comfort myself with the idea that there is a dog somewhere that now has a lot of new toys and sweets.”
Incidentally, the dog part box is officially called Dog Library. “There are also internationals living here,” explains Laura. “This is how it is immediately clear. And ‘dog library’, that is far too long to write on the cupboard.”
