Liverpool was allowed to act in overnight for a half time against Newcastle. Nevertheless, they needed a very late goal to win.

On the second matchday of the Premier League, FC Liverpool achieved a dramatic victory against Newcastle United. Only one goal in added time brought the new team from Florian Wirtz, who remained pale, a 3-2 victory.

The “Reds” struggled from the start, but in the 35th minute, however, took the lead out of nowhere through ex-Bayern player Ryan Gravenberch. In the added time of the first half, Newcastles Anthony Gordon saw the red card because of an overrunting against Virgil van Dijk.

When ex-Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké scored 2-0 shortly after the restart (46th), Liverpool looked like the safe winner. But the hosts did not give up despite the outnumbered, Bruno Guimarães came back in the 57th minute and even celebrated the equalization by William Osula in the 88th minute. But in the tenth minute of stoppage time, Liverpool struck again and scored the winning goal through the 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha. Wirtz had already been replaced in the 80th minute. He only started accents at the beginning, but continues to wait for his first competitive goal in the Reds jersey. The ex-Leverkusener had the first major chance of the game in the 13th minute, but failed to keeper Nick Pope.
