What a final phase: Borussia Dortmund FC St. Pauli still snapped the safely believed away win on Saturday evening and brought a point. In the 3: 3 (0: 1) in the Bundesliga, BVB did not show a good game – and was still on the winning road for a long time. But in the end the weak performance was punished.
Serhou Guirassy (34th minute), Waldemar Anton (67th) and Julian Brandt (74.) put the BVB in the lead. Andreas Hountondji (50th) had in the meantime compensated for the Hamburgers, Danel Sinani (86th) and Eric Smith (89.) ensured the new balance in spectacular final minutes. “We always believed in it”said St. Pauli’s defender Hauke Wahl of Sportschau.
The crucial scene of the game was preceded by the second goal of St. Pauli: BVB defender and Bundesliga debutant Filippo Mane pulled Abdoulie Ceaesay in the penalty area for a long time on the jersey and caused a penalty after VAR intervention that Sinani sank. The 20-year-old man also saw the red card for the offense in his bitter debut. “For me this is a clear penalty”said Dortmund coach Niko Kovac to the broadcaster “Sky”. He nevertheless protected red miners. “It was not it alone, we were not all so good that we could have taken three points today.”

St. Pauli catches the better start
St. Pauli’s coach Alexander Blessin offered five new additions from the start, but the newly formed team showed itself as a unit from the start. Louis Oppie, one of the new ones, got the first shot, but his attempt with the right was harmless (10th). But St. Pauli stayed tuned – and could have taken the lead early. Waldemar Anton underestimated a strong long pass from Sinani, so that Hountondji had free rail. BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel Stark (18th) parried the French.
At first there was hardly anything to be seen from the BVB. Coach Kovac were on the face early on: the construction game was faulty, the offensive forces hardly got a ball. Only after 23 minutes played did the Dortmund record the first shot when Guirassy failed from an acute angle to St. Pauli’s goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj. Shortly thereafter, Guirassy initiated the best chance to date when he conquered the ball and stormed Karim Adeyemi, who, contrary to the chopping trick, probably randomly forwarded to the Pascal. From a short distance, Groß could not overcome the attentive vasilj again (25th).
Guirassy hits and shoots penalty
For the first time, Vasilj had to grab in the 34th minute when Sabitzer flanked the ball with a butter -soft manual towards the long post. In the middle, Guirassy prevailed robust and stuck to the guest tour unsustainably. And the next dangerous situation was also based on Guirassy. His clever passport put ADEYEMI in position, which hit a hook in the penalty area and was brought down by St. Paulis Eric Smith – penalty. Guirassy did not crown his perfect appearance here: With his weakly shot penalty, the Guineer failed to Vasilj (39.). The Bosnian parried five of his six Bundesliga elf.
Gate, then a shot penalty: Serhou Guirassy
The prevented second Dortmund goal encouraged the Hamburgers. They now tied to their strong start minutes again. More than a few crossings and one or the other harmless final attempt did not jump out.
Kovac changes twice, St. Pauli strikes
Kovac, obviously dissatisfied with the play of his eleven, changed twice at the break, brought Brandt and Felix Nmecha for Adeyemi and the unobtrusive 30 million newcomer Jobe Bellingham. And Brandt staged directly: Vasilj fished his long -range shot towards the right angle from the corner.
Vasilj’s parades were all the more valuable because St. Pauli finally became dangerous again. Sinani was allowed to flank in the penalty area, Hotondji skipped Mane and headed into the left corner. Mathias Pereira Lage (65th) could have even scored the leading goal on the right, but found his master in Kobel.
Promising newcomer: Hountondji convinces against BVB
BVB was suddenly back. Joker Nmecha put on Anton in the penalty area, whose shot landed decisively in the long corner. Brandt, also striking joker, even increased to 3: 1 after a long ball. The highly agreed offensive man took the high ball from Groß Herrlich and used the second contact to the far corner – suddenly the game seemed to be decided in favor of BVB.
Sinani and Smith equalize again
But a Dortmund mistake brought St. Pauli back into play. Mane pulled Joker Ceaesay directly in front of the gate at the jersey. According to the video pictures, referee Matthias Jöllenbeck clearly decided on a penalty and gave Mane the red card. Sinani stayed cool from the point and ensured a very hot final phase. And in fact the equalization still fell: Smith pulled off the distance in the trap and welded the ball into the mesh for late compensation.
In injury time, the Hamburgers were even closer to the victory without having the big chance. “I am proud to be a coach of this team”said St. Pauli’s head coach Blessin to the broadcaster “Sky”.
However, much more remarkable: The dortmund, which were so ambitious, could no longer set up any accents in the final minutes, no longer reared up. The pressure on those responsible will continue to grow – it can be assumed that sports director Sebastian Kehl will still present newcomers.
