Confetti chaos: played game in Berlin

The game between Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart is accompanied by an elaborate fan choreo. Shortly after the kick -off there is a strange moment – the players also have to help.

Goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow ran over the colorful carpet of scraps of paper and shrinking with his shoulders, defender Tom Rothe gripped himself during the clean-up work-but against the confetti chaos in the stadium at the old forester’s shop, the players of the Bundesliga Bundesliga club Union Berlin were ultimately powerless.

The highlight of a remarkable choreography by the Union fans had caused an early break in the first season home game against VfB Stuttgart. Almost two minutes after kick-off, a bang from the Union curve sounded-and it rained small scraps of paper in the club colors red, yellow and white on the lawn in front of the goal of Union goalkeeper Rönnow.

Referee Robert Hartmann interrupted the game. It was only when the hubs hurried down the playing field from the coarsest dirt that the game continued after around six minutes.
