Gordon thinks that the new talk show RTL Tonight is not popular with buying away talk showers from competitors such as today Inside. “It is again an ordinary purchase party.”
RTL 4 boss Peter van der Vorst wants to decimate inside today. It is a thorn in the eye that Wilfred Genee has been making the most viewed talk show in the Netherlands for years at competitor SBS 6, and he wants to recapture the late evening. Beau, Humberto and Renze merge with the brand new RTL Tonight and one VI-guest after the other is bought away.
Clumsy
Gordon thinks that is a clumsy tactic. “It is again an ordinary purchase party. It is just like Talpa at the time. Then we were all bought away. In the end, that is not really an advertisement for your program that is happening now,” he says to the desk of Shownieuws.
Goor understands that guests like Lale Gül take the legs at VI. “I understand it all. They wave with a bag of money and it is an opportunity for someone to develop, let’s face it. You go to a beautiful institute. RTL is a very nice channel.”
Messy
Nevertheless, Goor thinks it is reflecting negatively on RTL. “I think it’s messy. It is put together on all sides and I think to myself: how long have we made television together? How often do we make that mistake again to think that if we can buy everything together, it is a success?”
He also believes that, in addition to all panel members, a lot of presenters are involved in the show: Beau van Erven Dorens, Humberto Tan, Renze Klamer and later also Leonie ter Braak. “With duo presentation I could still estimate that you will take off three days in two days, but to put so many presenters on one program …”
Piece more elitist
Story boss Guido den Attrekker believes that some panel members are very pretentious. He points to journalist Geert Jan Hahn and columnist Simon van Teutem. “Then you just want to become a lot more elitist. I have the idea that they want to be a kind of NPO 4 with RTL 4.”
Finally, Goor: “The family channel RTL, it doesn’t fit at all.”
