According to a spokesperson, an area of around 7.5 hectares is on fire. “That is quite a large area,” she says.
A children’s camp in the area has been evacuated. According to the spokesperson, it concerns a few dozen children. They are housed elsewhere.
The first report of the fire arrived around 9.10 pm. Many emergency services have been used for control them. So -called crash tenders, special extinguishing vehicles, will also help. The vehicles come from Maastricht Aachen Airport.
