The police arrested a man on Thursday afternoon suspected of a serious sexual crime in the forest near Zeist at the end of last week. The arrest could take place in response to ‘multiple usable tips’, writes the police on its own website. The man is in full limitations, which means that he can only talk to his lawyer.

Last Friday afternoon a woman at the Princess Mariannelaan in Zeist fell victim to “serious sexual violence,” the police said. The police arrived immediately, but the suspect had already fled into the forest. The forest and the rest of the surroundings were combined for the rest of the day with a police helicopter and several search dogs. Because the suspect had not yet been found last night despite the large -scale search, the police decided images of the suspect sharing.

The sex crime at Princess Mariannelaan was associated with an incident earlier in the day, in which a woman was approached by a man with about the same description. The woman immediately got an uncomfortable feeling and cried hard for help. As a result, the suspect ran away. It is not yet clear whether it was actually the same man.
