Judas Priest and Black Sabbath are about the same long in business, known immediately and immediately legendary. The respective front men Rob Halford and Ozzy Osbourne connected a friendship for decades.
Now Halford tells what the death of the Black Sabbath front man did with him.
In 2004 Halford jumped at the Ozzfest as a front man for Black Sabbath when Ozzy could not appear because of bronchitis. Already in 1992 he was on stage at some shows for the band, for example when the Black Sabbath singer, Ronnie James Dio, refused to open up for Ozzy.
Rob Halford had to cry for hours
Now Halford told the Radio station “Warri”that his friend’s death is still busy. He was informed of the friend’s death when he was on tour with Judas Priest.
In an interview with Meltdown, the 73-year-old described that he locked himself up in his hotel room in Leeds in English immediately after calling a ball and cried for hours. It was still difficult for him to believe that Ozzy Osbourne no longer lives: “I still mourn, like so many others”.

The next day, Judas Priest should play a concert, which was a special challenge for Halford. So he says: “How do you process all this tragedy – all this love? But Ozzy would say: ‘Let us celebrate. Let’s rock and roll’ – that was in his heart, soul and his spirit”.
Ozzy Osbourne – another “Giant in the Sky”
When Judas priests played the show the next day, they added the Prince of Darkness on the list of deceased music legends to which the band appeared with their 2024 “Giants in the Sky“Tribute pays.” This song is about people who love in music and who have moved on to this beautiful place, “said Halford.
He also emphasized how important it was to preserve the legacy of artists like Ozzy. “It is wonderful that we are talking about him now and we should talk about him forever. This is the way to overcome grief. You think of the past, you think of the joy, you think of the good times – and we will always do that with Ozzy.”
