Prince Maurits has been officially launched, Sail
The Tallship Clipper Stad Amsterdam left IJmuiden and on the way to Sail in Amsterdam. When the ship, with the Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema on it, sailed around 10.15 am through the lock, patron Prince Maurits on board the Scheepsbel. This officially gives the go -ahead for Sail 2025.
Orange fireworks were also set off from the lock when the clipper sailed past, an ANP reporter saw. The ship leads the parade of historic ships that sail to Amsterdam during the Sail-in from IJmuiden.
There are dozens of people who have come to take a look at the locks in IJmuiden. Further on it is also full of interested parties.
The first ships are expected to arrive in Amsterdam around 2 p.m. They must all be moored at 6 p.m.
