He was arrested weeks ago. Ex-boxing world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is now deported from the USA.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., former boxing world champion and son of the Mexican box icon Julio Cesar Chavez, has been deported from the USA. On Monday, US authorities transferred him to Mexico, where he was then taken to a prison in the state of Sonora.
The 38-year-old was arrested in Los Angeles by the US immigration authority in Los Angeles at the beginning of July. According to the Ministry of Homeland Protection, a Mexican arrest warrant was available against Chavez Jr.- among other things because of suspicion of participation in organized crime and for weapons and explosive trade. In addition, he is said to have given incorrect information in his application for a permanent stay in the USA.
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed the existence of the arrest warrant. The US authorities classified Chavez Jr. as a “blatant threat to public security” in the course of his arrest.
A few days before his arrest, Chavez Jr. in California clearly lost a show fight against Youtuber Jake Paul.
