The years go by and the ghost of Antonio “Jaime” Stiuso, the former general director of Operations, is still present in the Halls of the SIDE, but this time with greater certainties. Since the SIDE left at the end of 2014, he dedicated himself in the following years to keep the judicial causes that interest him and also reconstruct his influence on current intelligence.
The last year of Kirchnerism forced him to exile. Macrismo had respect and fear at the same time, so they did not approach him too much. Even a well -known band of illegal spies managed by Gustavo Arribas and Silvia Majdalani called “Los Mario Bros” would have monitored him. The government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner was not even close to calling him to work.
Ten years after that urgent farewell, with the death of prosecutor Nisman as a context, Stiuso had a voice again within the Secretariat of Intelligence. Chief Sergio Neiffert consults him and Santiago Caputo had the occasional meeting. He has no formal charge, but they were kindness to appoint a man of his trust in the direction of counterintelligence. This is important for Stiuso because it allows him to continue having information from the area he handled throughout his career and the one that earned him a strong bond with the CIA and the Mossad.
The presence of Stiuso at the same time is a problem for all, because, in this context, who does the director of counterintelligence respond? To Neiffert, to Kravetz or himself?
The same happens in the three agencies in which the Secretariat is divided. The National Security Agency with Alejandro Cecati at the head, proposed by Enrique “Coti” Nosiglia; The Federal Cybersecurity Agency with Ariel Waissbein and the Argentine Intelligence Service, led by Alejandro Colombo. These last two were on June 4, 2024 to a meeting with Rodrigo Lugones and Santiago Caputo to the Casa Rosada.
Today both Nosiglia and Lugones are remote from the day to day of the SIDE, so the three main bosses were held in their different bosses: Cecati is closer to Stiuso, Waissbein, Caputo and Colombo, hyperconnected with the ecosystem of foreign embassies in Argentina, more backed by the CIA and the Mossad.
In general, today in the SIDE there are many headquarters and in one of them, informally, it is also Stiuso.
