Former State Secretary Paul Blokhuis will work as of 1 September 2025 as an administrative director integral support within the recovery operation allowances. Blokhuis will focus in particular on strengthening and improving broad support to victims and their families from municipalities.
State Secretary Sandra Palmen of Recovery and Surcharges writes this today in a letter to the House of Representatives. The assignment for the administrative director, who has been drawn up together with the Association of Dutch Municipalities, is to promote timely, coherent and people -oriented help to victims and affected children and young people. For this, Blokhuis will work together with municipalities, ministries and involved organizations.
In addition to financial recovery, support in picking up life is an essential part of the recovery operation for victims and their families. Municipalities play an important role in giving broad support in the five habitats: Finance, Family, Work, Housing and Care. Earlier this year, the Dam Advisory Committee indicated that it is necessary to reduce the differences in the approach to municipalities. Following from this, Blokhuis will work on further harmonization of the broad support where space remains for customization. As a result, parents will soon know better what help they can count on.
In addition, the administrative director will work to ensure that the municipal recovery tasks in the recovery operation ultimately connect to existing social provisions. Within his assignment, the administrative director pays special attention to the families and young people who have already lost control of their lives before or as a result of the allowance affair. On the advice of the Van Dam committee, these families ensure an integral approach to the various problems they are dealing with.
