“The file is closed”

VfB Stuttgart’s war and FC Bayern around striker Nick Woltemade has been on for weeks. Now the Stuttgart lines draw a line.
Those responsible at VfB Stuttgart have finally declared the change poker around striker Nick Woltemade. Before the Supercup against FC Bayern, the CEO Alexander Wehrle and sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth categorically excluded the striker to the German record champion this summer.
“We have to end this topic that has been floating around for seven weeks, at the latest with kick-off. We clarified this, even with Bayern Munich during the week. So the file is closed. Nick Woltemade is our player and will play football for us next year,” said Wehrle at the Sky microphone. “We have a lot of goals, we have big goals with him and that’s why it is done,” continued Wehrle.
Sports board member Wohlgemuth also confirmed in parallel at the Sat.1 microphone: “The topic is off the table and Nick Woltemade will play football beyond summer.”
Even if Bayern would still pay the claims of around 75 million euros, the Swabians no longer want to be softened. When asked about a question, Wehrle again underlined: “Nick Woltemade will play at VfB Stuttgart next season. The file is closed. This is known in Munich. We also communicated this together on Wednesday.” Also underlined by Wohlgemuth on a similar question: “The fact situation is clear. We are no longer dealing with the topic from now on and are now focusing on the start of the new Bundesliga season.”
The negotiations between Stuttgart and Bavaria for the services of the striker have been going on for weeks. So far, Stuttgart had rejected all of the Munich offer. Woltemade himself is said to have already agreed on a change with Bayern, his consultant had reproached Stuttgart during the week that VfB did not adhere to agreements. He also criticized too little salary.
So is Woltemade still a salary increase at VfB Stuttgart? Wehrle announced at least further discussions. “We already sat with his consultant a few weeks ago and so we will certainly do that for the next few days, no question at all,” he said. “We are also interested in the fact that all parties are satisfied.”
