A 24-year-old man from Erp was arrested in Badhoevedorp on Thursday on suspicion of preparing a terrorist crime. He is also suspected of possession of weapons and making (parts of) weapons and ammunition. The national public prosecutor reports this on Friday.
The investigation began after an official report from the AIVD, which stated that the man would be willing to commit right-terrorist violence and was in possession of firearms.
Member of the extreme right -wing organization
The man says he is a member of the Geuzenbond, an extreme right -wing organization for young people in the Netherlands and Belgium. The National Coordinator for the fight against Terrorism and Security (NCTV) has designated the Geuzenbond as a so -called ‘Active Club’. Such clubs try to normalize right-wing extremist ideas and focus on ‘making the white breed resilient’ through physical training. The organization is active both online and through demonstrations.
Firearms in Erp
For searches at the address in Erp where the suspect is registered, forbidden firearms and ammunition were found. The National Investigation and Interventions Unit (LO) conducts further research under the leadership of the National Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The man was brought before the examining magistrate in Rotterdam on Friday, who decided that he will be stuck for fourteen days longer.
