The fire brigade in Breda pulled out on Friday morning for a very special rescue campaign. In a pond on the Waterweegbree, in the Haagse Beemden district, there was a fish stuck in the aquatic plants.

Local residents saw the animal struggling and called the fire brigade. The fish probably had a hook in its mouth with a piece of fishing line on it. As a result, the animal could no longer raced and it became entangled in the green under water.

With a wading suit on a firefighter stepped into the water. Leaving net in the attack, carefully maneuvering between the plants, he tried to free the fish. But that turned out to be more difficult than expected.

When the fireman pushed the net under the animal, the fish made a last powerful swip and managed to escape. A relief for the bystanders. But the rescue campaign was not entirely successful. The animal swam away with the hook and the fishing line in its mouth.
