Holiday -ranging terrace goers in the Stadshart were startled on Wednesday by a bee population. The insects were stuck at a table with thousands and that caused exciting but also hilarious moments. “Some left the terrace for fear.”

Horeca owner Stephan Spitsbaard and his employees looked up shocked when a bee queen and her followers had settled on one of the terrace tables of restaurant Pavarotti. Under the table a large ball of more than 10,000 insects formed, and the bees were also between the menu. Enforcement Zoetermeer called in a beekeeper.

Super-arie

When preparing the terrace that morning, there was no one. But around noon he suddenly got all kinds of apps with messages about the bees on the terrace. Enforcement partly finished the terrace with ribbons and called in the help of beekeeper Arie. ”

Round terrace

According to Stephan, the Bijenkoning, followed by De Zwerm, came to Stadhuisplein via the side of restaurant Lou Lou. “First they were on the terrace with the mayor’s friends. Apparently it wasn’t fun there,” he says jokingly. “I heard that some guests had fled there.” The queen then flew to the terrace of Pavarotti and landed on one of the tables. “I heard from the beekeeper that it was not a nest but a swarm. Where the queen goes, the rest follows.”

The rushed beekeeper managed to catch the queen in a special beehist. The large part of the bees followed her so that the swarm moved from the table to the coffin. “According to the beekeeper, the approximately one hundred and bees left behind,” says Stephan. “To be sure, we have deposited the table for a little longer.”
