Pole vault phenomenon Armand Duplantis has improved his world record again. On Tuesday, the Swede skipped the 6.29m in the second attempt at the meeting in Budapest.
The 25-year-old was introduced to the record books for the thirteenth time since he had the Frenchman’s 6.17m mark in February 2020 Renaud Lavillenie had outbid.
Already in February in Clermont-Ferrand (6.27m) and in mid -June in Stockholm (6.28m) Duplantis had set up world records this year. An end to his height hunt does not seem to be in sight.
6.40m in sight
Because Duplantis also dares to develop former fable heights in the further course of his career. “I want to jump 6.30m as soon as possible, but I would also like to create 6.40m, which is of course an insane limit, but it feels possible for me in the area of”the Olympic champion of Tokyo and Paris had explained in June.
In September, Duplantis will start as a top favorite at the World Championships in Tokyo (September 13-21)-with the aim of winning out his third World Cup title outdoors.
