Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Niklas Süle for the next two months.
BVB interior defender Niklas Süle suffered a muscle injury in the calf in the friendly against Juventus Turin (1-2), like that football-Bundesliga club announced on Monday (11.8.2025).
In the dress rehearsal before the competitive game of Dortmund on Monday evening in the DFB Cup in third division Rot-Weiss Essen, Süle was substituted for Mats Hummels in his farewell game in the 18th minute.
Big problems with syndesmosis
Shortly before the break, after a back pass he went to the ground without an opposing influence and held on the right leg. Süle had to leave the place after a short treatment.
Coach Niko Kovac had hoped immediately after the game that the 29-year-old’s injury was not too serious. Süle had had big problems with the right syndesmosis in the past season – a band on the upper ankle. He has been missing the team for a long time.
