Rinse
Do not leave leftovers of water or other drinks in your water bottle for days. Rinse the bottle immediately after use to prevent bacterial growth with hot (but not boiling) water. This way you prevent the typical musty scent that you sometimes smell after one day. The faster you rinse, the less chance of biofilm formation. Do this even if you have only drunk water.
Use a bottle brush
Use a bottle brush and a drop of detergent at least once a week to also clean the bottom and edges of your water bottle. Pay extra attention to the mouthpiece or drink – bacteria hope for that quickly. Choose a soft brush so that you do not damage the bottle. Rinse well is essential and let it dry well in the air too.

Take them apart
If you use your water bottle or bottle regularly, it is also advisable to clean it regularly. For that you loosen all parts of the cup, such as the lid, the straw and the sealing rubber. Make a bath of water with a tablespoon baking soda or a large dash of cleaning vinegar and leave all parts here for an hour in weeks. Both baking soda and vinegar are effective against microorganisms. However, do not use them at the same time, the two cleaning agents will raise each other’s effect.
