After a 12th place in Hungary, Lewis Hamilton doubts himself. That is a mistake, says ex-Haas boss Günther Steiner.
The multiple Formula 1 world champion is in the form of form, and Ferrari does not work. Lewis Hamilton was already thinking about giving up after the Hungarian race. Günther Steiner, once the team leader of the Haas racing team, sees this a hiring problem.
“How can Lewis Hamilton say? How can he call himself useless? Sorry, but that’s just the wrong attitude,” he said in the “Red Flags” podcast. And further: “That sounds like giving up, it sounds as if someone is looking for pity here. But that’s not the hiring of a world champion.”
Hamilton only came in 12th place in Hungary, his team -mate Charles Leclerc just missed the podium after winning qualifying. “If the driver of a team is on the pole and the other in 12th place, then it is up to the driver. I’m useless,” said Hamilton after the race.
Steiner considers such statements to be unusual. “Lewis is a seven -time champion and so it should appear,” said the South Tyrolean. The former Haas boss wishes more confidence in Hamilton, who celebrated his greatest success with Mercedes. Steiner’s advice: Hamilton is supposed to try to find his spell again.
