After a effort against France, the German hockey men made a successful start to the home European Championships in Mönchengladbach.

On Friday evening, fellow favorite Germany won 3-2 (0-0) against France after a grand comeback. In half-time two Victor Charlet converted two penalty corners for the guests and everything looked like a false start at home for the Honamas. But Germany did not give up and scored the game with a real effort by two goals from Justus Weigand and a transformed penalty corner of Gonzalo Peillat.

At first everything seemed to run against the DHB men. Especially in the first half, the “Honamas” awarded several major chances, all of which were thwarted by the French goalkeeper. “We were unlucky in the first quarter with our chances. In the last quarter we showed that we can also score goals,” said double goal scorer Weigand at the broadcaster “Magenta sport“. Jean-Paul Danneberg recorded the victory shortly before the end with a world-class parade.
