After his severe fall in the spring, John Degenkolb returns to the Peloton. The veteran wants to run a race again for the first time since April.

The long break will soon be over: John Degenkolb returns to the racing. The 36-year-old announced on Wednesday to start again on the Germany Tour (20th to 24th August)-a good four months after his severe fall on the tour of the Flanders.

In a video message, Degenkolb from Team Picnic Postnl said: “I am so happy that we really managed to get back on the street.” He thanked his team and emphasized how hard they worked together – “whether in the gym or on the bike”.

Degenkolb suffered several breaks in the fall in the spring: the collarbone, elbow and wrist. As a result, in addition to the Tour de France, he also missed his personal highlight of the season Paris-Roubaix.

The Germany tour begins on August 20 with a prologue in Essen. The destination is Magdeburg after a total of four stages.
