The change from Thomas Müller to the Vancouver Whitecaps has been determined. Now it is also indicated when the former Munich team could debut for his new club.
It will be an unfamiliar picture: Thomas Müller not in the red jersey of FC Bayern, but in the blue and white of the Vancouver Whitecaps. Now it could also be very quick with the debut of the 35-year-old for his new club: According to his contract signature at the Vancouver Whitecaps, the world champion from 2014 is expected at his new club next Wednesday (August 13), a day later he is to complete his first training session.
Müller could make his debut four days later, on August 17th in the home game against the Houston Dynamo FC. After that, five more home appearances at the BC Place Stadium are waiting in the following eight games by the end of the main round. The 35-year-old will not meet his long-time national team colleague Marco Reus or world champion Lionel Messi so quickly. Vancouver has already played its main round games against Los Angeles Galaxy and Inter Miami.
In the playoffs, the paths of Müller and Reus should not cross. Vancouver is the second in the Western Conference, but Reus should miss the playoffs as the bottom with the defending champion. Messi, on the other hand, could make it fifth in the east with Miami.
Müller and the Whitecaps announced the change on Wednesday evening. Previously, speculation had already been made for the Canadian club about a decision by the long-time Bayern scorer. Müller had left the Munich in the club in the summer after 25 years, he hadn’t received a new contract.
