Dahlmeier also exemplified her colleague to pursue her dreams. Because Dahlmeier did that too. Because she felt like she wanted to experience something new, she ended her biathlon career at the age of 25-and devoted herself to mountaineering.
That is why Herrmann-Wick writes: “A little consolation is to know that you were in the place that gave you the greatest fulfillment-in your loved one.” She ended the social media post with an emotional statement: “See you again-at some point and somewhere, dear Laura. You will be painfully missed.”
Dahlmeier died in mountaineering at the beginning of last week. Together with a rope partner, she wanted to climb the Laila Peak in Pakistan. A rockfall caused Dahlmeier’s death, her rope partner survived unharmed. The Laila Peak is located not far from the border with China and the K2 mountain, which is the second highest mountain in the world.
